Buying flowers online is just one part of the process. Keeping them pretty once they arrive is vitally important, so when it comes to flower care tips, may we suggest the following:


Always cut stems on an angle, not straight across. It increases the amount of surface area in contact with the water. The sharper the knife or scissors, the better.


Flowers need room, so use a vase that's big enough comfort.


For maximum vase life, keep all leaves and petals out of the water and change the water when it becomes cloudy.


Many common home recipes will not work to prolong the life of your fresh flowers, and may even damage them. Use the floral preservative that comes free from your florist, and read and follow the instructions.


Fresh roses should be in bud form and slightly firm to the touch for the longest vase life.


When it comes to lillies, especially Star Gazer, Rhubrum and Casablanca Lilies, they will last longer if you pull the pollen before it starts to open
